If India had a sporting religion apart from cricket, it would undoubtedly be WWE. The wrestling promotion too has realized this fact of late, courtesy of Triple H, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative, who is doing everything in his power to select the best local talent from countries across the globe.
India’s track record has not been quite impressive in the WWE, with just two notable names – The Great Khali and Jinder Mahal (Indian origin Canadian) – to have established the presence of our nation before Kavita Devi became the first Indian women to step foot in the WWE squared-ring and that too through the WWE’s first-ever open try-out, held in Dubai in 2017.
The WWE is now organizing its talent tryout in Mumbai, thus opening a channel for young Indian athletes, both men and women, to be a part of the best wrestling promotion in the world.
Here are all the details about the talent tryout:
1) The tryouts will be held for 4 days in March of 2019 in Mumbai, where both men and women from all countries can participate.
2) For the convenience of Indian participants, WWE’s official recrutiment website, wweperformancecenter (.com) has been made available in Hindi. A good look at the website will help WWE aspirants have a rough idea as to how there day-to-day life would be at the WWE Performace Centre in Orlando, Florida, USA, once they are selected for their ‘dream’ destination.
3) A participant may not necessarily have a wrestling or ‘Kushti’ background to be eligible. Any athlete from sports (background) like kabaddi, soccer, combat sports, cricket, body-building, kushti, basketball can appear for the talent tryout.
4) Reportedly, from the ‘huge’ number of applications received by the company so-far, 40 Indian participants have already been confirmed for the event.
If you also hail from the above-mentioned sports then what are your waiting for? It’s now or never!
