First Performance at the Age of 4
Quite surprising, isn’t it? Yes, Shannon K performed for the first time when she was only 4. And at the age of 12, she released her first song ‘Roll Back the Years’. Presently, she is 17 and a global success already. For instance, she has had the honour to perform live at Warner Theater in Washington, Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica, and many other notable places.
Shannon is Kumar Sanu’s adopted Daughter
Sana Kumar Sanu Bhattacharjee or Shannon K is the adopted daughter of ‘Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaae’ singer. ‘Shanu Da’ adopted her in the year 2001; however, did not reveal the same until August of 2018, when he finally admitted the fact in ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ – a singing reality show.
In an interview given to a renowned media house, Kumar mentioned that he was always reluctant to disclose this fact as he was scared of what the society would think.
Her Musical Collaborations
Shannon has many collaborations to her name. She recorded her first pop song with Justin Bieber’s frequent collaborator, Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd for the song ‘A Long Time’. The song has been viewed more than 36,000,000 times on YouTube.
She even collaborated with Kyle Townsend – a renowned music producer – for ‘Give Me Your Hand’ – an anti-bullying song. Shannon supports such causes because she herself has been a victim of bullying throughout her life.
She even collaborated with singer Sonu Nigam for OMT – a love song. As mentioned before, Shannon is a songwriter too. She co-wrote a song, titled ‘It’s Magical’ with Sameer Anjaan, a Hindi Lyricist. She often performs this song with her father.
She Supports Good Causes and Charities
Kumar Sanu’s daughter believes in serving good causes. When she is free, she focuses on a number of charities. In fact, she even donated her long hair to The Little Princess Trust. It’s a charity that provides wigs made of real hair to the children suffering from cancer.
Shannon was born in India and brought up in London. She underwent training in classical music from the Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM), UK. She proudly holds the B4U UK’s Artist of the Month Award (November 2017). Her sister is a songwriter too!
