A television show based on the story of freedom fighter Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi will be aired soon on Colors TV. This upcoming historical daily soap opera will narrate the story of Manikarnika who later become the warrior queen of Jhansi. The show will also entail pieces which will shed light on the younger self of Rani Laxmi Bai and her endeavors to put Jhansi on the map of India.
The show will take a prime spot on TV and will have some of the renowned faces of the television industry. Let’s find out who will play who in this magnificent tale of courage and valor.
Anushka Sen as Manikarnika
You know Anushka Sen as young Parvati from Devon Ke Dev. Also, she has many other roles to her name. She was a part of popular shows like Bal Veer, Yahan Main Gar Ghar Kheli, Amrit Manthan, etc. She will now be seen as the protagonist in Jhansi Ki Rani, wherein she will tackle the British and internal politics as young Rani Laxmi Bai (Manikarnika). However, nothing comes easy. Sen had to take daily horse riding lessons, fighting lessons, etc. to ace the role.
Jason Shah as the British High Commissioner
An ex-contestant of one of the most controversial shows – Bigg Boss, Jason Shah was recently spotted in Thugs of Hindostan. The actor has its roots in the US and the UK. He was also seen in the Bollywood movie, Partner, as the guy who was chosen by Katrina’s father to marry his daughter.
Jason believes that the industry typecasts people with white skin like him. However, he doesn’t complain about the same. He thinks shows like Jhansi Ki Rani entertain people and also educate them about the history of India. He is playing the role of a British High Commissioner in this period drama.
Dolly Sohi as a Saku Bai
An epitome of positive roles, Dolly Sohi will be an antagonist in this one. Irony indeed! Dolly has been a part of many daily soap operas, for instance, Kalash, Bhabhi, Meri Durga, etc. In an interview that she gave to a popular media channel, Dolly mentioned that she is both excited and nervous to play the role of a ‘troublemaker’ in Jhansi Ki Rani.
The show also has Anuja Sathe as Janki Devi, Vijay Kashyap as Peshwa Bajirao, Piyali Munsi as Laccho Bai, Danny Sura as a British Army Personnel, and Naveen Pandit as Ali Bahadur. Khoob Ladi Mardaani Jhansi Ki Rani will start airing from 28 January, 2019.
