Sometimes, when your elder sibling is getting all the limelight, you tend to feel a little inferior. However, this is not the case with Aparshakti Khurrana, whose elder brother Ayushmann is riding high on success after back-to-back hits in Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho.
Although Aparshakti has just started to walk in the footsteps of his brother, success doesn’t seem far away from him, and his performace in Dangal should stand a testimony to this assumption.
Here are a few things that no one told you about Aparshakti Khurrana:
Spent a few months at Delhi High court!
Aparshakti is a law graduate from Panjab University. After graduating, he spent a few months at the Delhi High Court and soon realised that the ‘world of laws’ was not for him. The end result was his next profession…..
He is a former Radio Jockey (RJ)
Before foraying into movies, Aparshakti worked for not one, note two, but as many as seven years as an RJ with BIG 92.7 FM, Delhi.
Initial stint as a Stylist
With the hopes of making it big in Bollywood, Aparshakti first came to Mumbai in the year 2011. Since one can’t bag a role straight-off and has to usually struggle to get noticed (if you are not a product of Nepotism), Aparshakti completed his “fair share” by being a stylist for his brother Ayushmann and anchor Maniesh Paul.
Dangal (2016) is not his debut film
Owing to the popularity of Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, fans sometimes tend to believe that Dangal is Aparshakti Khurrana’s debut film. However, this isn’t the case. The RJ-turned-actor made his Bollywood debut, two months before the release of Dangal, with Saat Uchakkey (2016).
He was offered Dangal because of his sports background
Not may people know that Aparshakti is an avid sportsperson. Be it Cricket, Squash or Soccer, Aparshakti had excelled at almost every sport during his school days, and still finds time to dabble with them on weekends. Notably, Aparshakti was the skipper of the Haryana U-19 Cricket team!
The extent of his fitness levels can be deduced from this statement by his brother Ayushmann Khurrana, “He once left from Chandigarh at 12 am, drove for five hours, started running a marathon at 6am and managed to come third. Crazy!”
Aparshakti doesn’t want to share the screen space with brother Ayushmann
In an interview with Filmfare, Aparshakti said that he would never want to be in the same frame as his elder sibling because it would lead to the inevitable ‘comparison’, and according to him comparison degrades a person’s performance and destroys peace.
Priyanka Chopra, Italy, Chole Bhature and Forrest Gump (1994) are his favourite actress, destination, food and movie, respectively!
Aparshakti’s wife Aakriti — whom he met for the first time at a dance class in Chandigarh — works at an HR consultancy. The two tied the knot in September of 2014.
