Earlier, Aamir Khan was in talks to play astronaut Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space, in the latter’s biopic, titled ‘Saare Jahan Se Acha’. However, Aamir was tied up in his dream project, Mahabharata, and couldn’t accept the role. But, he did not turn away the makers of the biopic and instead convinced Shah Rukh Khan to play Sharma’s character.
With this, the Mr. Perfectionist can dedicate all his time to Mahabharata, wherein he is portraying Krishna, a fact which has been confirmed by ‘Baadshah’ Shah Rukh Khan in an interview with a reputed daily.
Speculations still hover whether this Mahabharata will be a feature film or a web series, or for that matter a TV show. If certain reports are to be believed then, one can fairly assume that Aamir is looking to release his dream project as a 7-part web series, which will be co-produced by none other than Mukesh Ambani.
The report further adds that if it hadn’t been a web series and was released as a commercial film, then the total budget for the movie would have crossed a whopping INR 1,000 crore.
A few netizens and ‘groups’, though, did not like the idea of Aamir, a proud Muslim, playing Krishna on screen and began to rant against the project on twitter. Owing to this, the Dangal star initially reconsidered his decision about this ‘magnum opus’, as he did not want to end up like Sanjay Leela Bhansali (during the shoot and release of Padmaavat).
Baahubali director SS Rajamouli was also mentioned in a few initial reports about the project, as Aamir had said he would love to collaborate with the filmmaker. However, we couldn’t confirm the fact that whether Rajamouli or Mr. Perfectionist himself will be helming this one.
Anyway, we know that if Aamir has decided to go-ahead with this one, he would give his best shot despite an infinitesimal amount of resistance from various political or religious groups!
